2019 I4A Factsheet
Illinois’ 13 Area Agencies on Aging served 511,065 adults age 60 and over during FY 2019 or 19% of the senior population. A quick summary of services provided in 2019 is located on the right side of this page.
Grants are awarded by the Illinois Department on Aging to non-profit organizations serving older adults, caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren throughout the Planning & Service Area (PSA). Our PSA includes Cass, Christian, Greene, Jersey, Logan, Macoupin, Mason, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Sangamon and Scott Counties.
These grants are authorized under the Older Americans Act and are targeted to meet the highest priority needs of persons 60 years of age and older.
Grant applications are submitted and reviewed by Planning Committee of the Advisory Council. Recommendations are then made to the Advisory Council and presented to the Board of Directors, who vote to approve the grant allocations.
Eligibility for any of these programs is not means-tested and the services provided are available to any older adult who resides in the PSA. AgeLinc awards funds to local organizations in each county within our designated area to provide these important services and monitors the organizations to ensure accountability and quality.
